Downloadable search engine from Merck links users to MerckSource

Downloadable search engine from Merck links users to MerckSource

Merck is now supplying people with health-specific search tools directly on their desktop. The pharma has launched the MerckSource Doctor's Bag, a downloadable search engine that links users to the free health information available on MerckSource.com. Once it's downloaded, a Doctor's Bag icon appears on the user's desktop. Clicking on the icon will open a search toolbar directly linked to MerckSource.com. Merck says it recently surveyed 1,000 U.S. adults and found that 89% have used the Internet to search for health information, and 79% do so because it is convenient and saves time. Within the last year, several health-specific search engines have launched, including Healia, which says it is the first health search engine to offer truly personalized search.
